Job Summary:
Responsible for non-medical, in-home support services which provide for the comfort, safety, and general supervision of clients as well as home management services. Provides companionship to those individuals requiring socialization and/or minimum guidance to assure a safe, protected, clean, and orderly environment.

This position is responsible for in-home support services which includes companionship, personal care and homemaking activities. Provides for the comfort, safety and care of clients that enables the client to achieve optimal function with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
The ideal candidate is genuinely concerned about helping people, has high standards of honesty and integrity and possesses the maturity level needed to be able to satisfactorily handle unusual situations that can arise when attending to our clients and their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs duties as outlined in the client's Plan of Care
• Helps maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients and family members by providing light housekeeping tasks including dusting, cleaning floors and rugs, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning ovens, cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from the home, washing insides of windows and sills within reach from the floor, laundering client’s garments and linens, and changing linens and remaking beds
• Provides companionship for the client including, but not limited to, talking and listening, reading aloud, writing and mailing letters, helping with phone calls, reminding about appointments, accompanying to appointments, and providing social and emotional support
• Promotes the client’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest
• Provides emotional support and promotes a sense of well-being
• Helps clients in activities of daily living by providing any of the Comfort Keepers approved personal care activities including, but not limited to: bathing (bed, tub, shower), toileting, incontinent care, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, hair care, shaving, peri care, skin care, and hand and foot care
• Helps clients run errands and purchase items, including groceries, household items, prescriptions, and personal care needs
• May prepare and serve meals as directed and ensures that dishes are washed and kitchen is clean after each meal
• Reminds client to take self-administered medications
• Helps the client with ambulation/transfers as specified in the Plan of Care
• Helps the client with turning, positioning, and active and passive range of motion exercises as specified in the Plan of Care
• Helps client in the use and cleaning of bedpans, bedside commodes, and with toileting activity as needed
• Identifies and reports safety hazards to supervisor and eliminates safety hazards with client and supervisor’s approval
• Observes and reports any changes in the client’s mental, physical, or emotional condition or home situation to immediate supervisor
• Establishes and maintains effective communication and a professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers
• Participates in in-service and continuing education programs, staff meetings, and client conferences as requested by immediate supervisor
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Maintains confidentiality regarding client information
• Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions and document services provided
• Able to maintain satisfactory relationships with clients, family, and team members
• Able to function independently in the home setting with minimal direct supervision
• Able to fulfill assignments with reliability and punctuality
• Able to stand, sit, walk, reach, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds
• Successful completion of Comfort Keepers training and orientation program,
• Successfully complete extensive background check which includes Criminal History and Driving Record
• Agree to submit to random drug and alcohol testing
